A new era in competitive entertainment gaming begins this August as the Global Gaming League (GGL) launches its debut season, SZN Zero, with a high-octane showdown between music icons T-Pain and NE-YO.
Publishers partnering with the GGL include Activision Blizzard, Bandai Namco, Capcom, EA, Tetris, and Ubisoft. The GGL pits celebrity-owned teams of four against each other across four game titles, each from a different genre, ranging from sports, FGC, racing, shooter and ‘classic’.
Speaking about the project’s vision, founder and CEO Clinton Sparks said the GGL is designed to bring gamers of all ages together, something he believes the industry hasn’t yet achieved.
By signing agreements with the league, the six publishers permit their games to be played as part of the league's first season and streamed globally, with agreed-upon games including Tetris, Trackmania, Call of Duty, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Brawlhalla, Tekken, and Rocket League.
Sparks further explained, 'These partnerships enable us to bring together diverse game titles that appeal to a wide audience. Our league aims to elevate the entire gaming industry, highlighting facets from game publishers and hardware manufacturers to sponsors, and most crucially, the gamers worldwide.'
'It has been exciting to see the support from publishers for what we are building here. We are complementary to esports in that we are offering another avenue for competitive gaming and entertainment, but in a more accessible way,' said Darin Colucci, Global Game League Commissioner.
